‘Rainbow’ Drawing and Knotting Activity

Children love rainbows, don’t they?
Why not make a beautiful rainbow to hang in their room?
Draw a rainbow shape and ask the child to cut it out.
Give them a set of crayons and invite them to colour the rainbow.
You might start it off with the red on top.
This can also be a wonderful ‘matching’ game, trying to remember which colour comes next.
Use a hole punch to punch one hole in each of the coloured bands, plus two holes on the top for a hanging thread.
Cut lengths of rainbow coloured wool, about 15-20cm in length, remembering you will tie them on.
I used 16 ply wool from Indigo Inspirations
Invite the children to tie on each colour.
Add a hanging handle and your rainbow is set to go.
Here is another design, a rainbow from a cloud.
Tie on one set of rainbow thread.
Lovely and colourful, aren’t they?

I saw something similar hanging in a neighbours home and thought they would make a fab craft for MamaMoontime children. Original credit belongs to the teachers at Lily Pily Children’s centre.
