Belle & Boo and the Yummy Scrummy Day

Posted under Storytelling

A few years ago, I came across the delightful Belle & Boo illustrations by Mandy Sutcliffe. I fell in love instantly. They took me back to my childhood, and revived long-held memories of listening to my mum read Milly Molly Mandy to my sisters and I as we devoured the simple images on the page.  I would suggest the Belle & Boo images are flavoured or inspired by the drawings of Joyce Lancaster Brisley. I’m in love.

So you can imagine my joy last week when I came upon this gorgeous book, Belle & Boo and the Yummy Scrummy Dayby Mandy Sutcliffe, featuring her Belle & Boo illustrations.  I honestly don’t care what the story is about. The pictures are enough. (But the story is sweet too!) It is true. Pictures speak a thousand words.

I’m also a big fan of Anna Walker, and Freya Blackwood.  Both are design heroes of mine.
