The Paper Dolls by Julia Donaldson

Posted under Storytelling

This is my new favourite book!  Oh my, Julia Donaldson (of Gruffalo fame) has cracked the formula for catchy, cute, whimsical stories that just beg to be read over and over and over again…

I’m in love with The Paper Dolls. I adore reading it out loud- it just makes my tongue tingle as I get into the rhythm of the words. It’s so catchy and fun…   There were Ticky and Tacky and Jackie the Backie, and Jim with two noses, and Jo with the bow… and they danced and they jumped and they sang…

And then of course there are the illustrations to match by Rebecca Cobb. Super cute. So cute in fact, I want to have a poster of the paper dolls on my wall.

Ned has been loving it too, and has chosen it as his first book of the night for the whole past week running.  And he’s been asking me to make some paper dolls with him too. We just might have to make time tomorrow!

I’m putting this on my ‘must buy’ list.
